Storage, Storage, Storage

I haven’t met a single client who doesn’t need more storage, it’s the first thing everyone says to me.

We are constantly designing built-in solutions … whether it be pull out drawers under the stairs, built-in wardrobes or bookshelves.

One of the most ingenious solutions we designed was a trap door into a space under a suspended floor for suitcases.

When you need to maximise a London footprint bespoke is the way to go… as a rough guide allow £1k per linear metre.

Its an odd adage but the devil is in the detail, we produce detailed drawings to show things like the exact depth of drawers (too shallow and they wont hold your clothes), how doors open for easy, practical access and lighting inside wardrobes so you can easily see what you have.

When designing we always consider period details of the house and how to incorporate these into the storage … most of our joinery is influenced by the elegant but simple aesthetic of Victorian and Georgian properties.

Try reeded glass as an alternative to plain glass … it doesn’t have total visibility; instead, it has a lovely textural quality and reflects light beautifully.

If the house has high ceilings, make the most of them and design joinery that goes full height. Even if you need a ladder too access items which are only used occasionally it will always come in handy.
