When we were commissioned on this project, the house (built in 1890) had been unoccupied for years and was in an extremely dilapidated state… rotten smashed windows, asbestos ridden garage, subsidence and severe water damage were on the list of problems.
But now it truly gleams. We completely refurbished the property, improved the internal layouts, converted and extended the loft to create six bedrooms in total and built a large rear extension for the desirable open-plan kitchen family space. Externally the house has been insulated and rendered, new wooden windows installed and the expansive garden has been landscaped both front and back.
An exquisitely designed glass and welded steel staircase rises through the property with a huge rooflight above bringing natural light down into the foyer. The slickness of the staircase is set off perfectly with the textured Venetian plaster wall and the beautiful parquet flooring. In the kitchen a mix of metallic and matt grey cupboards with a stainless steel worktop and polished plaster wall really sing together. The kitchen units, combined with the concrete textured floor tiles, bespoke furnishings and filament lighting, means the space also has a homely warmth.
