Despite benefiting from a sun-drenched garden with a southwesterly aspect, the rear-facing rooms at this house in Hither Green were surprisingly gloomy. Through the design of a full width extension we were able to completely open up the space and take advantage of the abundant natural light by installing sliding doors and three rooflights.

Internally, the space feels intimately connected with the garden thanks to the huge sliding door opening and floor tiling that continues on outside. The sense of light is augmented by white walls, white gloss kitchen counters and light grey floor tiling, which contrast stunningly with deep blue kitchen units.
